So yesterday I found another canteen spout but it has no makers mark and there was not any tin left anywhere near it. Can anyone on here possibly identify the canteen by the spout? I have found 1858 and 1862's and this one is different. The brass ring/retainer and the spout were the only things I located. Found in central VA on my own property where I have located Colonial, Union, Confederate and modern items. I appreciate any assistance anyone can give that is more knowledgeable then myself or point in me in the right direction, I have most of the reference books but all the ones I found show complete canteens or give no info on dimensions.
