If anyone can direct you in the right direction it is Gypsyheart. Is there a story behind your find. HH

REB, Welcome to The Forum, Your Canteen Looks Like it Dates From The Mid To Late 1800's, Most Likely Mexican, But Could Have some South Western Native American Influence in its Construction. trk5capt...

first off thank's for your help! the history behind this is unknown to me, or the person i got from, her deceased husband may have known. i was helping her move out of her house just after her husband died, she wanted to have a yard sell this was 1 of the items she was going to sell. so i offered her money for it ,but she just gave it to me, for my help..lol.she knew nothing about it, or even where it came from. i've had it about ten year's, have had a lot of people ask me about it,but unable to tell them anything! done some research, on the double headed eagle on the side plate! that point's to a lot of country's used this logo, from canada to mexico to russia and many more. wether it 's a signature, logo, maker's mark, or what on bottom. is a oval circle with a crown, and a number 50 under the crown! thanks again for your help!
