can't find a reference for this one

This was found in an area that also yielded a 1743 2 reale and an 1806 half dollar. Sorry I didn't include anything for scale but the main diameter is about that of a silver dollar and the tongue diameter is between a quarter and a half. There is an image of what appears to be a palm tree and beneath it is a curved fish. It is in high relief. Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated.

As I recall, most S.C. buckles had a cannon at the base of the palm.
It could be some kind of pre-war militia buckle from SC, Fla, or other gulf state.

First off,I want to say,I have never seen an exact match to your buckle, but there are a few things that are very similar to other examples I have seen and I ca comfortably say this piece will likely date to the early to mid 20th Cetntury.I can also say the Palm likely has no tie to S.C. or any militia or Def. no military association.Cool buckle and awesome that you got both halves!

Belt loops are also wider than normal. Maybe a foreign buckle?
