Cant figure this one out.

Can't figure this one out.

Friends of mine just bought a house and this contraption was in their patio.

It has a 5/16" square rod with a point on one end.

A pendulum type thing (solid and heavy) with 2 knurled threaded knobs

A slider with a wing nut

30" overall length.

Chrome plated.

I was thinking something for a BBQ, just never seen anything like it.

Any ideas?

I now see how it works. The weight on mine would turn if you tightened the knurled knobs.
