✅ SOLVED Cant figure this one out.

Ive dug 2 of these so far at 2 seperate locations that ate near each other. An 1800s home and a 1800s hotel site. Both are located beside railroad tracks. Not sure if thats associated or not. They are iron and one was way more rusted than the other.

I kind of had that thought when i first saw them also. It would be a small pipe though.

I yield - though I worked at a foundry/machine shop in the 1980's that was 100 years old then and had things that looked identical to route the various overhead lines. They slid in "C" channels

Charlie P, I think the difference might be the fact that on the Victorian bedrail hooks, the circular hole has a straight/flat section. Theoretically, overhead pipe-hangers would have a completely round hole, because the pipe is round.

After seeing this i also recognize the bracket it was attached to. I have found at least one of them at the same location. The hotel was on the site from 1840 to 1933.
