Can't decide if this is horse brass or a pin .... help!!

I found this a few days ago, and at first thought it was horse brass, but all the horse brass I've seen has a slit for going through the bindings. It seems to have the remnants of a clasp part on the back, and it is BIG! It is 2" across. It was found where we are getting a date range of 1847-1930's coins, but very near a collection of 1900-1910's coins. Any thoughts, or ideas would be much appreciated, as I am at a loss at the moment. Thanks for any an all help!
