Without markings not a heck of a lot. With markings, pretty good especially French. :)

what kinda markings would ya find on these....and how would ya find them..they been in the ground for 300 years and you know what happens to iron after that long !!!

A broad arrow for British, and a Fleur De Lys for French. Once cleaned marks would still be visible.
 

Yes I have found one with the British Broad Arrow and IP has found one with the Fleur De Lys on it...
 

ID love to see the markings on them, cool finds!
 

Markings a big plus - if they can be attributed to a battle or fort - will add a little more
