Cannonball??

I was detecting an area of Ohio River bank today when I found what appears to be a cannonball and a smashed 3 ringer bullet within 10 sq yard area. The iron ball is very coroded and weighs approx. 3-5 pounds. What do you guys think?

Sorry, it is 2 11/16" across and 3.8 pounds.
