cannon ball fragment worth

Are CW cannon ball fragments worth money? I noticed eBay has a few for sale for 15 dollars. To me it seems they aren't too rare. I've found quite a few lately in a field near my house where a battle took place. Just curious.

How would you prove it is what it is?

I would think not worth much at all. However, if there is a fragment you have with a solid provenance, say, from Gettysburg, then maybe a few bucks. To pay 15 bucks for a fragment, it would have to be very special and from a rare projectile. That's just my 2 cents worth.
