I'm not an artillery expert by any means, But I do not think that you have a cannonball there, #1 it's not round,#2 It has a flat spot on two sides, (top & bottom, or two sides), the best thing to do ,would be to get EXACT measurements of the object, (Diameter) and EXACT weight. then post it over on the Whats it forum......Cannonballguy will cruise through and answer all your Questions......jmho.................................HH
 

Its is round other than the flat sides which im guessing would be from the casting it is 2" in diameter even measuring across the flat sides its 2"
 

You need to tell us where you found it.

I think you'll be able to find out more about it after:

-you specify the country and exact location where you found it
-you must educate yourself about local wars throughout centuries
-then you can start guessing what types of weapons were used in the area, who could have made it

It has historical value, unfortunately this is not like finding a chest of gold...
