Cancun Detecting Laws

Does anyone have any info on the laws of detecting Cancun, Mexico beaches? I will be staying at the Crown Paradise Resort if that helps.

detectors are a common site at all the Mexican and south American tourist beaches. There are dealers of the major brands in the bigger cities. So the general consensus is, it's ok. If you ask though, you might get a consulate or bureaucrat, who is thinking in terms of the pyramaids, protected historic sites, shipwreck salvor laws, etc.... But as I said, detectors are a common site on the beaches, so for casual tourist spots, it seems to be grandfathered in.
