I managed to sneak out again Sunday as the opportunity presented itself! I hit a new/old park nearby. It was a big park so it took me a while to find the good spot. I spent about 2 hours working a fifty by fifty foot section for deep coins. Found about 7 early wheats, a couple of IH's, a barber dime, a HUGE token from a local business, and what I thought was half dime. All of these were in excess of 8 inches so I had to dig forever. Even with the probe they were tough to get. I found the coins flat in the center of the hole at about 8 inches. I actually hit it with the lesche. I saw the silver edge and thought "thats to small to be dime?". Then I had a flashback to the only other half dime I found and did the happy dance! I dont know if I should be disappointed or not? Hey! it is technically a "half dime" even though its Canadian. Nice little coin. I posted a pic of it with my "real" half dime for comparison only. The only reason I posted the IH is that it came out of the ground covered in a layer of gunk and I took it home and cleaned it with a hard bristle brush. The gunk came of and the coin was this brass color. must have been some strange soil that coin was in. Another good day and I'm headed back to this park for sure!

SWEET! really nice finds!

Nice finds!! any idea on the age of the token?

I have no idea on the age of the token though I assume OLD because there are only three numbers in the phone number. The back says "good for $1.00 on a new suit".

beautiful finds :o glad you made it out to find that and good pics to congrats ;)

Kirk. I use the EXII when hunting old parks and the XLT for hunting old houses. The XLT is better at seperating trash and IDing coins (except for IH's and nickels). Not to dis the XLT on depth, just a fact that the EX II will hit about two to four inches deeper depending on the soil. Though you gotta go slow know some tricks to do it! I still say the XLT is the best machine Whites ever built and if they would make and calibrate a good 10.5 inch DD coil for the XLT it would be deeper machine than a minelab IMO.

Congratulations on the deep coins and token!

It takes a little faith to go that deep.

Great job!

This is a good idea!! Anyone out there who has any pull with Whites???? I know I would be one
of the first in line for a 10.5 DD for the xlt!!

That's a sweet little coin... How deep? 8"? How did it read? A friend of mine was hunting a San Francisco park and dug a pretty deep signal. Pulled out a half dime, but thought it sounded a little too good, so he went back in and got 2 more, plus 2 Canadian fishscales. I wonder what the maximum depth you can get on a half dime would be...
