Can you tell me anything about this old long barrel rifle / shotgun?

I'm posting this in the early morning before an estate sale, sorry about the short notice. This is my only picture of it. It looks interesting with the long barrel. Trying to ID it to get an edge on the competition. Google image search didn't do me any good this time, didn't see much at all that looked like this.

Wow, can't see much in that picture. Really need to see the lock at least, if it even has one, can't see it. Best I can do is it looks like it may be a military musket with the stock cut back.

I went to the sale, saw the rifle in person. The hammer and all the firing mechanism is gone. The part of the stock that would make contact with your shoulder is rotting away. An owner (probably the original owner) hugely carved his initials in the stock. The price was $75. If it's still there tomorrow they'll bring it down to under $40. It might be of value to a collector that needed a barrel or trigger parts, but I can't imagine much use for it as it is.

Oh well. Thanks for trying l. cutler

The "trigger parts" are likely composed of two parts on a gun like that: a simple pivoting plate that is is pinned into the wood.

Most likely it's a smoothbore made for trade in Africa. Belgium and the Netherlands made such guns well into the 1900's. Half stock with a barrel that long and only two thimbles show it to have been a low-budget affair to begin with. $40 would be about right.

The sale is over, it was in terrible shape and remained unsold at a 1/2 hour before closing. I went back for a 2nd look, and just couldn't see even $35 for it. I scored a working Rayo central draft lamp with chimney and shade for $16 that late in the sale, so I guess that shouldn't reflect on the rifle's real value.

I'm sorry, I should have taken a decent pic when I first saw it in person, the condition was so disappointing that I completely forgot. I really couldn't swear that it was a real gun after examining it up close, it was that bad. If I get another chance I will post a better pic, but that sale is over.
