years ago when I was a child I found this coin on the beach in Florida after hurricane David. being a child I gave it to my parents for safe keeping and they put it up. years later when I asked about it, they couldn't find it. well, I recently found it , again!. I always thought that, seeing the history of Spaine in Florida, it was an old spanish coin but never could find it to have it looked at. I posted this in the "what is it?" section yesterday and was told that silver actually comes out of the ocean black like this and to post here too. all these years i thought that it was copper! WOW!!!! I am realy exited about what I am hoping this is!!! I guess the only way to know is to scrape it but i am not comfortable with that idea. there is some kind of reddish/purple growth or encrustation on one side of the coin, coral perhaps. this coin is heavy for it's size. no I havn't weighed it but it just feels heavy for how big it is. also it is THICK about the height of 2 to 3 quarters stacked. there is what appears to be a crosshatch pattern on one side it and the other has the encrustation so whats there is unknown. If this really is an old spanish coin then I will be absolutly thrilled not just because I was lucky enough to find it but because I still remember exactly where I found it. hey finding something like that is not something you forget even as a kid! even then I had an inkiling that it was something special. the question now is, is it???
thanks for any and all the help you can give. Z

yes, the same coin, has the same claw or clamp coming out of the cage ! great find for the beach and without a detector! dont scrap the coin, never do that, just keep asking how you can get some of the crust off to see more detail. HH GL

It has zero white oxidation... which is odd for lead.
While it does not strike me as a Spanish coin it does look like a token of some kind or a lead seal.
It just needs a little electrolysis to clean it up.
I think I have a couple photos of lead seals/bale seals on my phone..
Your piece looks more like silver than lead in the photos.
A good Jewler will have access to an electronic tester..it requires nothing but to touch it with the tip and it tells what it's made of.
