Can you help find the "treasure"?

I have been lucky enough to walk around this site - which I believe is mostly unsearched!

What ruins can you find around this ancient, hand hewn, roman road? (yes that is a ROMAN road!)

Enjoy your search, there is probably a LOT to discover around this point! (zoom out and look at the surrounding 5 square kilometers :o 8))

(and if you find something special, post it here or let me know! --- as always you will need to view the attached kml file in Google Earth)

I have very amateur eyes, but these look like "interesting" places to me...and manmade.

Many possibilities there. I love the tree lined road.
This (just to the south) has to be man made.

Here is another very interesting site. Approximately 1.22 kilometers to the northesast.

I am not much help finding ruins... There are a lot of linear wall type structures that look promising.
I can usually spot linear or symmetric patterns fairly quick. This caught my eye.

It appears to be a set of reservoirs to the south.

South East is an interesting Nautilus shape.

Ya'll are just too weird!
So Marc, Who owns this land? I see some homes scattered through the area and sparse agricultural work.
Do you know if any modern battles were in this area. It reminds me of some scenes from "The Big Red 1"
Since you were there can you give us a little back ground on the area.
Thanks JG

Wow! Those are some cool features you guys found! That sure looks like a French Mermaid! ;)

I affectionately call this feature Noah's Ark....

Re: Can you help find the "treasure"?

So no comments on the area???? Trying to keep us armchair archaeologist in suspense?
Was there a settlement here? Roman? French? Italian (could be a summer resort...) :icon_scratch:
You have us hooked. Don't make me google it? My eyes are blurry from seeing mermaids and aliens.

You can see it by viewing the attached kml files in google earth.

Do some research for the French town of Gourdon

http://nona.net/features/map/placedetail.672515/Gourdon/

It has a fascinating history, and I am SURE there is stuff to find there. :)

I am not sure who owns any of it. It is probably illegal to metal detect / treasure hunt there. (but that doesn't mean one can't dream!)

Re: Can you help find the "treasure"?

There are a lot of rocks in that area.... No shortage of building materials except wood.
I saw this nice photo by Stephane Valente

Re: Can you help find the "treasure"?

How did you guys get to the pics? When I clicked on the link, it took me to a bunch of numbers and stuff????

Re: Can you help find the "treasure"?

well maybe its just me and not wanting to look at the obvious marks on the ground,

I did however happen to come across 2 seperate decent sized groups of powered paragliders,

if you look real close you'll find 2 seperate groups of cars and people out in the middle of no where

look around you can see them in the air , pay attention to some of the ground detail in the areas they are flying over

If your going to go flying arent you gonna want something other than the tree tops for scenery???

Re: Can you help find the "treasure"?

sometimes what your looking for isnt the most obvious or easily spotted. there might be nothing around where they are flying but i did notice some ground patterns close to the areas they are over
you see this saying all over the treasure pages "treasure is where you find it"
well treasure can be where others are looking and not seeing it also
I tend to think finding stuff is in the fine detail and not noticable places if it was noticable it would have been found.
our best finds come from old sites that arent near anything some of them 1/2 a mile out in the woods where there arent any paths or trails at all, thats why they are good sites , no one just strolls across them.
