Need a better picutre of what the hole looks line inside to tell. There are a lot of rocks with natural holes through them, more then you would ever imagine possible, and 99.9% of them are natural.....depending on the type of stone, you can usually tell by looking inside the hole to examine the drill marks, smoothness etc.

Ok I will get peggy to take a new pic.... i think the hole looks pretty smooth tho.

I blew up the first picture 300%, judging from it, it appears to be natural.....Better picture will tell more...

Even if it turns out to be just a geofact, it's still a pretty neat find. There's no telling what forces of nature it took to create such a hole.I keep the ones I find that are like it and put them in the flower bed.

I agree... it looks really cool but IMHO is probably natural. I've found several around the rivers here. Could be a prehistoric wormhole, or it could be that the rock had some mineral inclusion that wore away faster than the rest.

Yes, just like the Arches all over Utah......Made by nature....

Thanks guys!
I kinda figured as much... however with such a small hole... I did not want to miss this if it was tooled!
I am finding no other artifacts in that area... not a thing... so this being of the same kind of rock material... I figured it was not a human design. I did hope tho! LOL
Oh we did find a flat stone about 10 inches square(ish)... that looks like a face was carved in it... however this again looks like natural a erosion... but very curious to look at.
I hope to have a picture up this evening of that one
Thanks again... we are enjoying this immensely!!!! Even tho we are not finding anything native american yet... we will someday! :)

Hi there,

If you are in Frankfort, you might want to check out Monty's page and see if you can go to one of their local archeaological society meetings in Richmond, KY. There are always a lot of local collectors there.

I used to live in Louisville, and I've hunted many times near Lexington on a friends farm... There are many artifacts in your area just waiting for you to find them, so don't give up!

Thank you very much Joshua! I will contact him. :coffee2:
I have seen several pieces from my county... I am gonna have to get on the ball.
Again... thanks!

CLOSER photo of the hole in the stone... looks natural I think... but it looked so cool to be on a small stone.
thanks again for all your inputs!

As hard as you are hunting and it does not look like you are missing anything its just a matter of time before you start pulling them out. Good luck and thats the way to do it
