brother and i were hunting an old foundation. i picked up the only coin. this was two years ago. i washed on scene with water and fingers. date gone. how stupid. i thought it was 1796 but mike said it was 1793. large cent, yes. i stuck it in a box, but he keeps driving me nuts about this darn penny. i would like to get a real date on it. can some one help?

Do you have a picture of the coin, both sides, that you can post? There are numerous ways to clean and bring out details on a coin, and there are amazing folks on here who can tell/show you how to do that. They will need to see what they're working with, though.

Please post a pic so we know what the coin looks like. Thanks! - Noodle
