More specifically - half of a two piece victorian dress or belt buckle... not a sash buckle as those are generaly a one piece item.

Found at a mid to late 1800's private property. Lightweight and sturdy material....probably galvanized steel.
I dont think its galvanized steel. If a magnet sticks, I would guess heavy nickel plated.

Its actually two photgraphs, one of them flipped horizontal, and then I put them both as attachments side by side, giving it the impression of being one photo. I didn't intend it to come out that way, I figured there would be a space between the two photos. :)

I see. You cropped it close. :)

It looks like this one in shape but with a different flower design. Possibly the same manufacturer. It shows where the hook would clip to on the right. (its a little bent)

It does not stick to a magnet, so I don't know what metal it is......thanks again!

That rules out galvanized steel. It also shows no sign of rust. My guess is nickel plated copper or brass, or a silver alloy.

With my programs (Irvanview, Paint) I can only flip or rotate a quarter turn (90 degrees) or a half (180 degrees), nothing in between. Can you rotate any degree?

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0. My wife is a photographer and this is the basic program she uses for most of her photo editing situations. It is a very expansive progam. On the rotating, I can do any degree roataion left or right, or flip horizontal or vertical. Then of coarse there are all kinds of effects you can use. Its not the simplest program, but its what I have available. BTW, it also can convert any type of image file to jpeg and size it for attaching here on tnet.
