Can someone please identify this 'rock'? Please take a moment to have have a look?

I found these 'rocks' in a friends garden.... If you see in the photo's there is what seems to be a brown edge with a layer of something magnetic... iron maybe? The rest is not magnetic.... The pattern down the sides does not seem to continue through as one of them was cracked open by the friends son. I hope you can maybe help?

it looks like a chunk of metal attached to petrified wood.

Thankyou Mike for your reply..... the pieces were found in England ( North Yorkshire) in an area that has been used for farming for a lot of years.... whether they originated in the area I do not know... on another forum someone has suggested waste from an industrial furnace....

The only metal content that I can see is a very thin line running through the brown edge.... that is the only part that the fillings stuck to when trying to see what it is....

It's Tiger's Eye. A type of quartz. Great specimens. Below are pictures of unpolished Tiger's Eye.

Yeppers, Tiger eye. Likely put there by someone, perhaps as decoration.

Now, I'm not wantin to rain on any bodies parade but, the one thing that gives tiger's eye quartz it's unique appearance is that it's contaminated with very fine, very uniform straight croidolite fibers.
Stock has posted some clear, and close-up photos and the layers are way too thick and bent to be croidolite, it looks like to me, a small piece of banded gneiss, a type of metamorphic rock,
the bends and folds in the layers are just too dramatic to be quartz. imho
