First of all I bought these off a gentleman on Ebay. He found them while on vacation in Germany with a metal detector in the 70's. He said their Viking or something else close to it. I been collecting ancient coins for 10 years now but coin collecting for 20 yrs. I love History and now Im part of it. Thanks for looking..

Silver coins size 10-12mm and very thin.

Hello, The coins are not Viking and don't look like the Saxon sceats we find in England. They could look a little Celtic or foreign. My gut instinct and I hope I am wrong is that they are not old but made very recently.

ps hope I am wrong.

I think you are wrong and they are old, possibly from Asia and probably low value. (but find out for sure)

I paid over a $100.00 buck for them but I got them as a lot with some other coins like 2 Germany, Bavaria and 1 akche. To me they look like Celtic type made by the Dugotriges. I could be wrong to but Im stumped. Thanks for the help and i hope we all can solve the mystery

I think I know what you're looking at for the silver stater of Durotriges tribe. I've posted a couple of generic images below and I'm afraid I don't see a similarity. What the coins remind me of is some of the India coins from the independant native states( before the British ). I can't find an exact match in my Krause guide, but they're very heavily into dots in their designs. Some of the other lines seem to look like the writing found on their coins too.

I'm going with Indian. About 15th century. Not German finds, not Viking, Saxon or Celtic.

Check out coins from India on ebay. There are serval that look close. I have seen these coins before identified as Indian. They are sold in lots with other coins so they can say they sent silver in the lot they sent you. $2 on ebay.

Take a look at this web site: http://www.ancientcoins.ca/india3.html

and scroll down towards the bottom until you get to the section marked:

Anonymous late Gupta issues (ca.520-600 AD)

They seem to resemble your pictures. Pretty old coins if that is what they are.

well done, looks very similar
