Found this at about 7in down an looks like brass.

the "fluer de lis" design on it makes me lean towards "french" or possible spanish post 1701 -- its used as a symbol of the house of bourbon --* the french royal bloodline ( kin to the spanish king) in 1701 they took over the heirless spanish throne *--

the type of design of the button ---is a very old type of method of manufactor

I think in the end you will find out the button isn't so old.

I'd just be guessing because my main interest is the early ones... but maybe 100 years old. I am quite sure it is not early.
