Re: can listeniing to music before a search increase finds

I don't listen to music BEFORE detecting, instead I listen to it WHILE detecting. I find that the beeps from my metal detector annoy me, so I just bring a stereo and pump the volume ALL the way up when I night hunt. I find that it's especially helpful if I'm hunting an easement in front of someone's house at night, or in the local cemetery. It's a lot of fun!

Well, Strike it... if you really want to put yourself in the mood, and you can track down the recording, how about "The Dutchman's Yellow Gold" (The Legend of the Superstition) as recorded by (are you ready) Walter Brennan

"Oh the Dutchman was a gambler, and a party was his fun;
But he kept that precious secret, never trusting anyone.
And in death he still is laughing, for the secret never told
On the Mighty Superstition, lies the Dutchman's Yellow Gold"

Prob'ly before you were born kiddo... still a neat song none the less

Re: can listeniing to music before a search increase finds

You may not be far off about listening to some kind of music to relax you before you go hunting.
But just the act of being focused on listening to the bell tone or whatever kind of tone your
MD emits, can play a part. I have found that when I am so focused on my MDing, all of a
sudden for no reason I will stop and walk over to a spot, pass the coil over it and BINGO! SO whats
happening there? I don't know, but I do believe we all have some kind of intuitional radar that seems to
operate when we are focused and not thinking about anything other than the act of swing that coil properly and listening for true signals from the metal detector. If music helps you focus better before MDing, then why not?
