CAN IT BE AS SIMPLE AS THIS ?

After watching these vids, I remembered my "very remote" campsite in a deep canyon, was not so silent/pristine after all. The noise
from logging trucks was a constant background even though they were a 1,000 ft. up on hwy 20. And the helicopter ops. And while
on the dirt roads, traveling into/out of my claim, I was always tense about the encounters with trucks, as there was no place to pull out.
Now imagine you are a silicon valley success, and just want to get out of the city, for a quiet, de-stressing hike/fishing/picnicking trip
in the forest. Or actually bought property in the rural areas. Now I realize its all about noise, potential danger, and general commotion. The snowmobilers, the dredgers, the loggers, the off-roaders are on the hit list. The spotted owl, the critical habitat, the "remobilizing of mercury" by small-scale mining,etc. are manufactured tools to get noise out of the forest. What do you think ? (posted some logging truck vids, showing the noise of jake-brake in the woods and going through small communities, but had to edit them out - not allowed, for some reason)

Must agree about the irritating noises. Living out as far from any
major town as we do, around here it's usually quiet enough after
dark to hear a duck fart from a block away.

Come about 0400 I can usually hear the logging trucks making their
way back into the hills for their first loads of the day, but with the
snow level so low they've had a tough time getting logs out.

FWIW, that Jake is a life saver, literally. Coming down a 15%+ grade
with 30 tons of timber in the rack ain't no fun, and having that Jake
running means you're not toasting your brakes, so they'll be there
when you really need them. The loggers are usually off the hill by
about 4PM, but hearing a Jake running in the distance has never
bothered me unless they are very close by. (Could be that being
near-deaf doesn't hurt..lol) Most towns have ordinances against
using Jake Brake's in the city. Salt Lake City has this ordinance,
and even though you're still dropping down a steep grade as you
enter town, you hope your mechanical brakes aren't too hot from
the past 6 miles of downhill. Still, if I needed the Jake in order to be
safe, I used it..law be damned.

I live with roaring tinnitus 24/7/365, and the last moment of
actual "silence" I heard was when I woke up in the recovery room
after my first ear surgery. It lasted about 2 minutes before the
screaming started back up again. I recall waking up and telling my
wife that "it's quiet!". Then, IIRC, I threw up, on her, and immediately
went back to sleep. That was Jan. 21 of 2009, exactly 5 years ago..and
it was the only moment of actual silence I've had in the past 15 years.

If that Silicone Valley rich guy wants quiet, then he can go buy himself
an acoustically shielded room.
