Iron? Brass? Both ends hollow? Is it broken? What is the diameter? Is the slot on both sides? Need more info...

I'm sure I am way off base, but, it appears to look like some kind of axle spindle, maybe to a small cart, or even to a well pulley system? A differential piece for farm equipment?
I've seen that kind of connector end, and cannot for the life of me, place it. Good luck with id.

looks like a broken crank, the right angle handle snapped off, maybe

I would also wonder, maybe a connector for propane and or cooling components (coupling needed?).
Doesn't it kinda look like a propane tube connector for a grill? Or blow torch extension?
(oh, I shoulda said, I am terrible at riddles and whatisit's) :laughing7: :laughing7:

I know this doesn’t help much.

I have seen a lot of handles of different kinds of jacks and hand pumps that had that kind of a slot cut into it, but the handles are hollow all the way threw, like a pipe. The shape of the slot keeps the handle from pulling off or out.

This rod is solid except the tip with the slots I was guessing a broken mining drill bit, they're a lot of mines where I was at but could be a axle spindle, when I first starting digging it out I thought I found part of a flint lock rifle but anyways I will take better pictures tomorrow and post them

I think it's an extension or part of the handle for a screwjack or scissorjack, new handles and extensions are hollow, but most all old handles and extensions I have seen are solid steel.
