gee, thanks for the help romeo. I figured I'd get a better shot at finding out what it is in the metal detecting forum.

Just a wild guess, but with the three rings and eye bolts makes me think of some type of horse or mule rigging for farm equipment or wagon. :icon_scratch:

I totally agree without the wild guess, and the wood rotted away.

Late 1800's/1920's. Coat it with 25%/75% linseed oil/minerial spirits, hang it on your garage wall. It will great with the rest of your primitive finds. Tony

I agree with Tony. I grew up on a farm and in our barn we had several single trees along with a bunch of different antiques. I didn't think much of them back then as it was all just about farming the old fasion way. But I wished that I had them now. We had an old corn grinder that I used often to grind corn for the stock. Dad had a black smith shop and I would help him heat the plows for sharpening. I wished that I had that forge, bellows and the hugh anvil that was in that shop. Chances are all that stuff is buried deep in the ground now. Hang on to that thing as Tony suggested. Friends and family will ask about it and you'll know what to tell them. HH, Yard Digger

Thanks for the info guys. Will hang on to it for sure, and hopefully I'll find some other old pieces to go with it, and put it on display.
