TT - You don't read Chinese? Dang I had to pass the Chinese cash coin test before they let me be a charter member! :-\

fuji... I forgot my manners! Welcome to Treasurenet! Truth is I don't read chinese either. But I have this awesome site that helps me at least get close... (see the above site provided by my lovely assistant TreasureTales) ;D

I kind of just cruise through that site and get the general information... dynasty, dates, whatever else a regular guy can get from the site. Then I make a pretty picture to awe and impress everyone. ::)

You were dead on with thinking it was from the 1800s! Nice job!

I thought I would never find out what I had. I dug one of these about 5 years ago and could not identify it. any idea on value?

It's rare that any are of value more than a few bucks... but, if you check the site above that Treasure Tales posted you can, with a steady eye, figure out what your coin or token is. I think it's more interesting as a relic than a coin.

The first time I dug one up the local coin dealer told me it was worth about $2.00. He said interior decorators like to use them in picture frames with other Asian items - as a decoration. Like MJ said, it's probably worth more to you as a nice keepsake. AND it could mean you are in the location of the old Chinese section of a town. If true, you could find other great stuff. Happy Hunting!
