To narrow the date down more, "All Scovill buttons marked "MG Co" date early 1850's

The other side just has initials in it. Here's the photo. This must be the oldest "identifiable" find from the Hot Springs for me. It's "A" something something.

Alabama Corps of Cadets (University of Alabama) that were manufactured by Scovill in Waterbury, CT during the 1850's.

Peachy, a photo of that button does appear in the Albert's book on buttons and it appears to have some value, more so than a common button...
