Cool looking item..how large is it? Made of?

Did a quick look, and if you've got the time you can probably
translate it yourself, as there are many reference sites for
decoding hieroglyphics.

In my experience, the hieroglyphs on these ‘Egyptian’ souvenirs fall into one of three categories… in ascending order of frequency (and the latter is by far the most common):

- Badly copied from an authentic frieze or tablet with at least some meaning.

- Random characters put together in a way that makes them gibberish with no meaning.

- An attempt to convert English to hieroglyphics on a ‘letter-by-letter’ basis that has no linguistic validity and gives a completely spurious meaning.

The end result is often a bit like the tattoos people unwisely get on an Oriental vacation after having their judgement clouded by inexpensive alcohol. The guy in the tattoo parlour assures you it says “Joy to the World” and what you actually get is “Wax Tadpole Sandwich” (or whatever).

The hieroglyphs on the side may make more sense than the others but aren’t likely to give much insight into the item. It usually takes a lot of effort to work out what they’re intended to say, for not very much return. They’re probably going to represent the name of the person or company that made the item or just say something generic like “Cairo” or “Egypt” or whatever (but using invalid letter-for letter transliteration).

Got myself in a corner ... I gave a funny answer.
Now I'm being serious and it makes my other answer seem "normal".
Nope ... this is more real. (I don't understand it, just passing it on)

I think you have a HEART SCARAB.
Yours looks round on one side and flat on the other ?
I think there's enough "scarab" to go this route.
They were usually made from greenish stones.
Modern ones are made from "anything". (to sell)

There would be two things to look for. The ID of the person, and "the spell".
I "think" that might be what we're seeing.

They were funerary items, and it gets very complicated.
They would bury multiple ones with different spells for, like, 30? different aspects of the individual.
So, you might find 30 amulets ? The heart was the most important one, thus it had the scarab.

The purpose was to die with such a pure heart that it would be lighter than a feather.
In the afterlife, if your heart weighed more, you were sent to the monster.
The amulets were to provide the person with spells, to allow them to pass the tests.

For example ... a heart spell would be included to allow the heart to "cheat" a little and hide ones "sins" so the heart would appear lighter than the feather. (Oh, they left the real hearts in the mummies for this reason)

If yours can be matched to something, yikes, I think it may lie in a thing known as "The Book of the Dead" (The Book of Death). The common one is Spell 30 ? ... that's as far as I got ... yours was way off from that one ...

Anyway, it's more likely it is a modern mish-mash of symbols for the modern markets. Not green stone ?
If it's a direct copy of something ancient ... it might ? lie in the direction of spells found in "The Book of the Dead".

Oh, if the one small part is the ID and all the rest is spell ... one site that seemed reliable said it would be read from right to left.

So, what is it ? ... this is where the real answer makes my goofy answer look "more normal" he-he.

These would have been made to accompany the deceased persons heart. Placed by their chest. It was a magical spell for the heart to apply to itself. The magic would allow the heart to fool itself into believing it had led a purer life. (Overlook it's past sins) If the heart could fool itself into believing it was purer, then it had a chance of passing the test in the afterlife. The heart would have to be pure enough that it would be lighter than the feather.
The magic wasn't to blind anything else into believing the heart was lighter. It was to convince itself it was lighter... because that was the only way to pass. If you didn't believe it ... you would be caught ... and sent to the monster. If you believed it ... you couldn't lie ... so you wouldn't be caught.
