i was detecting in my yard this afternoon and uncovered this. it's copper,6 inches overall length. i've never seen any tools like it. IMG_1277.JPGIMG_1276.JPG
 

Is your house bricked? Looks like a tuckpointing trowel for smoothing mortar.
 

no, my home isn't brick. i've been researching since i posted the pics. i'm reluctant to believe it, but it is very similar to some of the copper culture indian spear points pictured here. copperculture
 

holes in the top an pointed base might be for grounding lighting rods to the ground! holes in handle for the copper ground wire ?
 

Could be copper culture. The patina is ancient.
 

update

i sent photos to the owner of the copperculture website and just received an email from him stating that i had found a 6 inch ovate socketed point most often associated with the middle archaic period and then he made an offer to purchase it. amazing! i never expected to find anything like this
