Can anyone identify this MD coil (i.e. maker, what make & model of MD it is for)?

Hi Fellow MD'ers,

I purchased a White's Goldmaster II metal detector today that is in really great condition and the seller also had this coil which I also purchased. He stated that it came with a Minelab metal detector he once owned but he could no longer remember the model. He did state that it might have been one of Minelab's MD's that was made specifically for Gold shooting and I believe that the coil is a Gold Snipeing coil. It is 3 3/4 inches in diameter and appears to have a plug for an older model Minelab MD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have 2 Minelab metal detectors (a Minelab Explorer II and Minelab Sovereign Elite) and would like to know if it will work on one or both! Thanks!

I have one identical to that. I'm almost positive its for a Fisher. I don't own a Fisher and I cant remember how I ended up with this coil. On the bottom of mine is written in ink " Fisher 1260X and 1220XT". Not sure how reliable those markings are though. Hope this helps.

garren,

Thanks! You hit right on the nail's head! Not sure it fits the 1220X but definitely the 1260X. I was sure hoping that it would work with one of my' Minelabs, oh well!

No problem Frank. This got my curiosity up so I did a search and found one for sale on the bay...the seller seems to think these fit all the 1200 series. So maybe it fits quite a few models. I may have to go find me an older Fisher to attach to my coil! LOL :laughing9:...just what I need, another detector!

I am somewhat confused as to which 1200 series models it will fit. My' coil has the male plug-in (connector) pins while some of the 1200 series coils were made with female connector plugs. I don't believe all of them had female plugs on the coils (i.e. male plug on the metal detector control box) but could be wrong! Which plug-in connector does your's have?

I dug mine out of the "junk" drawer and my plug is identical to yours. Heres a quick pic of the plug and the writing on the bottom. I googled the 1220x..doesnt look like this would fit and I didnt even find a 1220xt.

I guess this does fit the 1220x. I found one on here posted for sale back in 2010.

I see, from more research, what your talking about on the female connectors. I saw on another forum where this doesnt work on the 1265x or 1266x. Just the 1260x and 1220x...what a shame...I would like to have a 1266x.

I feel the same way but I would have rather that mine would fit one of my' Minelabs! Since I will probably never get to use it, hopefully I can get the $25 back that I paid on it when I sell it! I have never been much of a fan of Fisher or Garrett MD's but that is another story I should tell you about. White's and Minelabs are my preferred MD's, although I would love to own some of the OKM Metal Detector/Ground Penetrating Radar machines. They would take so much out of the labor and guess work and their' depths are out of this world!
