Hi all,

I recently came across this belt buckle at an estate sale. I know the stone is malachite but I'm not sure what the metal is, it's quite heavy at 142 grams or 5 ounces, 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" top to bottom. As you can see in the pics, it's signed by "Whalen" with what looks like a stylized eagle (?). Any help would be appreciated!

Hard to tell from photos alone but I would guess silver or possibly nickle. Does the rough end have any yellow color like brass?

Yes, the pics don't show it very well, but it actually is gold colored and very rough

Weird.
Waylon Jennings eagle symbol is similar

Welcome to our forum. Do you know if the base metal is silver?

I believe it’s a custom made belt buckle not mass produced. Most likely a local artisan without
A web presence or one that is no longer in business.

That's kind of what I was thinking... about the custom made part anyway. I don't know what the base metal is yet. Thank you for the welcome
