can anyone id this?

i found this item at a school that dates back to the 20s. it looks kinda like a lock but it isnt. it opens up into two parts and is about 1/4 of an inch thick.someone else found one of these on the forum a while back.i think its made of copper.anyone have any idea what this is?

It's from an early 1900's chastity belt.

Is it two piece or hinged? What diameter is it? I have seen something similar on the forum and it was used to contain a lock of hair from a loved one perhaps? Monty

It may be a change container for small items: Coins,keys,ect...

thanks for the replies everyone! i need to start posting something as a size referance with the object . it is about 1 inch across and about 1/4 inch thick. it does open but it is too small to hold pills. it almost reminds me of a lock but there is no keyhole. im gonna post more pics of the back, and inside. thanks for the guesses so far!
