Welcome to tnet, pull up a chair and stay a while. I can't help ID the coin, but someone here will be able to. Where was it found?

Welcome to TN. Can you read the writing for us?

It appears by the pic that the plating is coming off. Is this true, or is it corrosion?

How deep was it? What is the metal composition? Is it silver, brass,...?

I see at least 5 fleur de lis fleur de lis.jpg

There are 3 pix up. one of the front one of the back and one with another coin next to it for sizing.
what you see is what I see, cant make out any words just letters. I see what looks like "OSS" maybe an "N" and a Partial "R" its worn pretty thin and torn in one corner but I didnt see where theres any plating coming off just some corrosion. it looks to be made of Brass but I'm not 100% it was about 6 inches down.

Looks like an old jeton, or counting token— possibly early 1600's.

Or Jetton (as we spell it)

Agreed 17th century Nurembury (German rechnen pfenning)

Thanks to all! I took the info you guys provided and started digging on my own. So far I found what the back of the coin looks like but there were so many variations that I havent come across the same design on the front of the coin but thanks for putting me on the right path!

Its not really a coin. Its a counting token used on exchequer boards for working out taxes etc.. They were made in vast numbers & many varieties. Its not in my book but then they only cover a few types. You would need a specialist collector or website to pin it down anymore. You may get lucky & find the exact motto. I'm pretty sure its German, although it might be French. Its likely one of those 2 & definately not English.
