Can anyone help with these things? I don't have a clue.

Hi, I found these while out enjoying the day digging in the dirt. Does anyone have an idea what the first three might be? I know the last one are pliers but how long do they have to be in the ground to rust that badly???? Thanks all and keep on digging! Oh, I forgot one last thing. How can I clean them up better from all the rust to see them better?

Depends on the soil conditions but they look pretty old. the second one is half of a hasp lock. The first is hard to say without the rust removed. You tube removing rust with electricity. It works great. I'm trying to post a few things myself but can't get the pics to load.

So like Electrolysis? Is that what you mean or something else? I thought about WD-40 but am afraid it will ruin the items. I was thinking like a trunk lock for the first one but hard to tell really for me. THanks though! :-)

Try the electrolysis. It works really well. We made one in about twenty minutes. 4 18" sections of rebar and steel wire bought at lowes for less then ten bucks. Washing soda from walmart Battery charger and a bin. It's amazing how well it works. We have done horseshoes...old axe heads...etc

The last pic reminds me of the lyrics to the song MacArthur Park: Someone left the pliers out in the rain . . . :) Breezie

Personally, I wouldn't waste the time or effort messing with those pliers.

My guess is that they are a low end style, possibly made buy Vlchek, Pexto, Herbrand, Harrold, Indestro, Buffalo, etc.

I flea market for a living, and have had tons of these antique pliers, and they only sell when marked $1 or so.
