I found this ring yesterday....would really like to find the owner...but I am having a hard time reading the name on the inside of the ring. Its marked 14k, 5-2-35 im assuming the date of the wedding and what looks to be two calligraphorm initials and a last name and another initial after the last name? Maybe the single initial after the last name is a maker mark and not an initial? I dont know, it is badly worn...help me please return this wedding band to its owner :) :) :) The last picture is the one I cannot figure out what it says. If any more pictures are needed let me know i can easily take hundreds more.

I know that's what makes it all the more interesting! Maybe if not the owner... a child, widowed husband, anyone from the family that would find it precious would be great.

Pic #2 I see a I or a J (they can be the same in script) and the middle of pic #3 is a K. More pics would help... since we can't wiggle it in our fingers... :laughing7:

Wow Daroofa that is a really good guess! :icon_thumleft:

I wonder though - could it possibly read "36" not "35" 5/2/35 was a Thursday and 5/2/36 was a Saturday.

Hmm, im really thinking you could be right......and you've just blown my mind. Did a little research on the family......they lived in the town that the ring was found in......

There is a chemical called ferric chloride, which is used on dateless buffalo nickels that will 'bring up' the date. It is also used on guns to restore worn serial numbers. The product is called: Nic-A-Date. It will leave a blotchy, rough, acid spot of damage on the coin, but the date will be visible. I'm wondering if it could be used on gold to do the same thing or if there is a chemical that does work on gold. Perhaps your jeweler would know.

Really neat find, and MAJOR KUDOS on trying to find family members who would absolutely LOVE to have this ring!   Breezie

OK thinking about it it could be the top part of the R not the loop... and I think it is 36 also.

H R Almy fits good! :icon_thumright:

Definitely looks like a 36 to me on my iPhone when I expand the pic -- could be a typo in the newspaper or a sloppy engraver as "Almy" is not that well engraved. Will check on my laptop and iPad as well! Any luck locating the family? I know if that ring was from my Mom or Dad I'd love to have it back and would be extremely appreciative of someone taking the time to locate me! Great job and please let us know what happens!!
