Well, it is 20% copper....

Why do you think it is fake?

Aluminum foil, baking soda and boiling water to clean it up.

looks to be a Canadian coin

It's a Canadian quarter

What year is it? Why do you think it's silver?

Quarters of that vintage (George VI) would be 80% silver. He believes it is NOT silver. KG VI was the face until 1953. They were 80% until 1967.

Why would anyone fake a quarter? It wouldn't have any great value.

Wouldn't the value have been higher in the 50s and would have been much easier to pass off vs. larger denominations? Don't know.

I want to see the OP do what seekerGH suggests. Might be surprised.

I'm not sure what we are discussing. It's real.

You can tell it isn't counterfeit from a dark picture? For the record, I rather doubt it is which is why I'd like to see the OP clean it and post it to close the loop because even if it was a fake, that would still be pretty cool (maybe even cooler).

Yeah I do not think it's fake at all. I'd just like to see the date.

Sorry it took so long to post again lol but it was a very crudded up think it sat in cow s!!! For 50 years lol it's a 1943 quarter. I've never dug a silver that was that hard to clean up. So now I know that silver can resemble a corroded copper. Thanks for all your posts.
