It was 7 inches down at a site that looks pretty old. I put a picture of the stone building it was next to maybe this could help date it.
 

Also the spoon looks pretty green in color.
 

Probably 19th or early 20th century. Definitely not colonial.

Pewter spoon bowl....?
 

You would need to look behind the handle and see any marks there before you know for sure what it is, so clean it up and take a close look- and a close-up pic will help here. But doubtful it's of this Colonial era.
