can anybody identify what this old metal piece is? I think it might be an old bottle cap?or maybe an end cap for a pipe?

It is not a bottle cap, I think that option can be eliminated completely from the list of possibilities.

I'm thinking that it may be a furniture leg metal glide.

It had 3 sharp points to hammer it into a wooden leg of table or couch.
