Can anybody give me an age on this railroad spike

Look in to the history of the rail lines in the area you found it, you may get an idea of the age of it that way, but spikes could have been replaced with new ones over and over again by the section repair crews. The size of the spike may be a clue, but the style has changed very little in the way of a railroad spike. We here may need a picture to help you further. As for an extra large spike it could be something used anywhere like logging or some other application not related to a rail line construction.

I saw your second post of this spike and picture
I don't think its a RR spike as it doesn't appear to have the required lip to hold down a tie
more inclined to say it may be a cold chisel tool
