I like to sell small, light, flat things on eBay because shipping is cheap and I'm lazy about looking for boxes to ship bigger things. This patch was in a box of Misc. stuff and I put it on for $3.99 with free shipping as I do with most patches. The first day it went to $20.50 with 3 different bidders and stayed there right til the end of auction. See the second pic to see the hammer price. I nearly s***! my pants!

I have asome other great finds Garage sale shopping that I sold on feeBay and when I find the pictures, I will post them.

I wish I had noticed this site sooner as it is more interesting than the guys showing pretty much the same finds over and over on the detecting forum.

Congrats! I love it when you get a surprise like that!

Some of my best ever scores at auctions have been when I buy flat full of random old smalls and boxes full of misc old small stuff. I've turned $5 flats of misc into $300-400 before. It would all be really random stuff that I had no clue had that kind of value. And then I would be kicking myself that I didn't just buy every single box lot and flat of misc at that auction. But now I've learned! When in doubt, buy it all and research later.

I believe that patch is from the Electra Volunteer Fire Department located in Ocklawaha, FL. . If one can believe the info posted online showing several more from the same F.D.

I wonder why it went for so much, it's not that old I don't think. Did you happen to give it the black light test?

maybe some cop impersonator needed it to complete his uniform.....you never know. i hear the drug cartels clone police vehicles to transport large amounts of narcotics..that's just a thought that's all. or maybe a die hard patch collector needed that one particular patch to complete his collection...is is awfully high for a patch though

We wintered for 4 years in Astor, Fl where the box of stuff came from. The winner of the auction said it was quite hard to find, but was hoping to get it for $125.00. The loser of the auction sent me an email and said if the deal fell through to let him know as he would pay the $152.50.
