Found this yesterday magnet fishing because creeks are high and muddy. I have researched as this has been debated for sometime whether or not these were used in the ACW or not. I could see where they could be used but it would have to be a hard surface to be affective and these should be found by the hundreds it they were thrown out on trails or roads during CW. Im not disagreeing they were not used but it just seems like there should be alot more found than what ive researched..Oh i did also find a stirrup and amall cal rifle and a double barrel..

I'm with toecutter. The caltrops I have seen didn't have as many facets to them.
 

Not a caltrop .. There are no official records whatsoever indicating that caltrops of any type were used in the Civil War.
