Hey- I really need some help from someone who has successfully dumped coins at BoA using bags. I would love to be able to do this, however after over an hour with a banker, they had no idea how to get such an account set up.
They said it may be able to be done with a 'Full analysis account' which has a very high minimum. She said she was not familiar with dumping coins or even cash as most people only use credit/debit. If someone can help please PM me. I may need non personal account details(account type)...

Help please!

you don't need any special account, in fact i would stay away from a business account because then you are subjected to fees.

You just need a relationship with the merchant teller(s) , they have the coin deposit bags. If they are making a big deal out of it, you might try another branch if they are throwing up a strong deflector shield from the forest moon...

They had said to me that under a personal account that coins would need to be deposited in rolls. I swear the CRH gods want me spending my time in TD bank...

Chase Bank out here in Az requires me to give them coins in rolls. They then open each roll and dump into a bag for return to who they deal with. I asked if I could just have a bag and fill it with the 1 thousand dollars worth and was told NO. They have to do it.....they have to see each coin going into the bag?? Seems like a lot of extra work, but that was their rules.

chase is the same way in CA, i've never used them as a dump bank but my brother in law tried and they said they would only accept rolled coin.

never had an issue with rolled coin since it goes off to the processing center anyways. Ask them to show you where in the literature for a personnel account that is explicitly stated.

What state are you in N8 ?

I've had no problems with Chase Bank in CA both with rolls and bags, except one. The branch closest to me will take deposits but they shut me down to ordering boxes. Said it was costing them too much :dontknow:. Only thing is that bag deposits are subject to count and it can take up to a week the funds to be verified.

They can make it as difficult as they want. I have not used BOA to dump, but I have dumped $500 bags of loose coin and immediately received my cash. No deposit to my account involved, and the bag goes directly to the vault to be shipped out.

if they require you to roll the coins, then roll the coins. but to save time don't count them.

I have had varied results in different branches.

I have a personal account that I deposit into but three different branches have three different policies. (or so I'm told) All bags that I deposit have the dollar amount and type of coin marked on them. I have only been off the count +/- $3.00.

Branch one:

- any amount of coin in bags must be sent out for counting and deposits into my account about 5-7 days later.
- will except rolled coins but anything over $100 must be sent out for counting.

Branch two:

- all bags have to be sent out for counting
- will except rolls up to $500

Branch Three:

- will exchange bags of coins for cash then debit/ credit the account based out actual coin count.
- will except rolls up to $250

As you see they are all across the board. I have talked to the managers at each branch and they assure me that their policy is bank policy. I don't feel like arguing with them that other branches do it differently. So my advice is to shop around for a branch that suits you're needs.

N8-

you must live with what your area gives you. I have been hunting for years and would love to be able to buy bags. They are simply not available in my area. I was able to get one in when I traveled out of state.

Have you tried dumping at the "What's in Your Wallet" bank they usually have coin counters in the lobby. I know there is one near Tysons and one in Alexandria.

Hope this helps.

I have a local bank I pick up from and dump at. Its part of a small regional chain. No problems with them. I just make sure they understand I want the experience to be pleasant for them as it is for me. To that end what started as a 3k initial order is now a weekly 1k. Bagging was 1k per bag but due to the difficulties of them lifting the bags (older tellers) I am going to approach them about 500 per bag. Doesn't matter if it is halfs or dimes. If a problem comes up we talk it over and agree on what works best in ordering and drop off. Really nice people.

Also, my local Chase bank doesn't have a problem with the same order and drop off procedures. However, several other banks in my area do. Depends on the manager and how you approach them. I just opened an account with them. Gonna have to see how the returns are. The associate who helped me set up the account now wants to go metal detecting with me. Gotta love small towns.

I have one bank that will become my official dump bank if I should open an account with them. I could only dump 500 at a time but they do have a coin sorter. Been thinking about it. They will let me do 6 deposits and 6 withdrawals per month without a fee. They won't let me buy coins from them in bulk though. Like I said, a future dump bank.

Hope this helps.

I have the ability to dump at many banks with coin counters. However, I could greatly improve my speed/productivity if I could find a way to dump in bags. That is all I am looking for. I have been at this long enough to know the art of dumping. I can dump at many TDs, Capital Ones, local banks, and credit unions. I just was hoping someone had more insight on dumping in bags. Someone that could help me with a national chain or a chain in my region that does have a BANK WIDE policy regarding it. Not just a good relationship with you-

I appreciate all the other advice, but its not where I wanted to go with it.

I appreciate all the other advice, but its not where I wanted to go with it.

In my area both BoA and Wells Fargo will accept bagged halves $500/bag exchange coin for cash. They reference the bag to my business account number so a credit/debit can be processed if the bag is incorrect.

I have had the regular tellers get squeamish on me when I want to exchange for cash, I tell them: "Reference the bag to my account number, that way they can trace it if its off." Usually a vet teller nods her head to reassure the newbie. I have never had to deposit. If that does not work ask to speak with the professional (business) teller or the vault teller, or the manager, they should know then drill. All that said, I am a couple thousand miles to your west, so perhaps there is a different policy in your area. Try both WF and BoA, different branches until you find a few that know the drill. There may be other issues at play, like a couple branches have been burned on coin transactions in the past prompting a region wide no coin bag for cash policy. It really is pretty simple, either they will or they will not. In my area they will, and I definitely would not do any sort of volume if I could not dump in this manner.
