Gypsy,
I know you have IDing skills like no other on TN. (Just kidding PBK) ;D
Any idea what this beautiful piece is that I dug up yesterday? Part of a jewelry piece possibly?
It almost looks like Victorian era?
The back in hollow (no back) and follows the front contour. No engraving on it either.
Any help from you or ANYONE else would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MM

Hey, MM—

Looks like a segment from an Art Nouveau watch fob similar to this one:

PBK,
You are amazing!!! Thank you so much. That looks like a match for sure. So that would be 1880 - 1914 era, correct?
Now I can label it properly
By the way, Gypsy said she would have beat you to it, but her computer had a momentary glitch. ;D Just kidding.
You both are fantastic at this ID thing. Don't ever leave TN. ;)
Thanks,
MM

Gypsy,
As soon as I dug this piece up I thought of you. I know you like these type of pieces. I may actually put this in a tiny frame. AFTER I dig up the rest of though. ;)
Thanks,
MM

Not that PBK isn't right...as always ....but ....looking at that it appears to be bigger than a quarter......so I am wondering if it could be off of a centerpiece belt or a bracelet .

And shouldnt the hole on the bottom actually be on the top if it was connected to a chain?

Gypsy,
Good point. I was wondering about that hole at the bottom. It made no sense.
You are right as far as size, it is about the size of a half dollar.
Don't give up Girl. ;D

Hmm... well, a segmented belt or some sort of jewelry other than a fob is certainly a possibility, I suppose.

However, the hole at the bottom appears to have been added later, somewhat crudely pierced or punched from the reverse, and is totally inconsistent with the other workmanship of this piece.

As for the hole/chain, if this is part of a fob it would not have been the top (or bottom) piece anyway, as evidenced by the four side loops— not for suspension directly from a chain, but for attachment between two other pieces.

Beautfiful find MM, would be nice if you could find just one more section of it. :)

I don't think you'll find another piece of it. Looks to me like someone took a piece of a braclet and made it into a choker or necklace and added a tassle or dangle at the bottom to make it more fashionable.
