Hey guys,

Dug this relic this morning at Gheenoe78 and my civil war artillery camp. It is copper, has some gilding left and depicts a stars and strips design. It had rotting leather fragments still clinging to the reverse and is slightly over 1 inch in diameter. The design is contained on a thin metal disk, suspended around a copper ring. Any ideas?

Don't know what it is but it is a cool find. I'll be watching. Almost looks like a checker.

I wouldn't completely rule out button as I've seen some that were a little similar in construction, but it doesn't really have a button look, at least a common one.

Whatever it is it's a great design.

The construction is similar to a 2 piece button, although no shank, looks like it was crimped around leather like a rosette.
