I found this Bell Sunday and was hoping to find out a little about it. It is three inches tall and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. There are no makers marks. It weighs approximately 8.5 ounces. I do not know what metal it is made from. No cleaning needed other than to rinse it under the faucet and towel dry. The color of the metal, especially inside the bell, it more silver than brass or bronze. There was an iron chain and/or clapper that has totally rusted away leaving only a rust stain. There is also a staining of green like that left behind when copper oxidizes. It's outside surface is satiny smooth like the Tombac button I recently found at this site. The site it came from is a farm that was active from late 1700's until the early 1900's. Could you tell me: 1. Metal it is made of? 2. Approximate age? 3. What it may have been used for ? (Cow, Sleigh, etc...) 4. How it was mounted? 5. How you would refit it with a clapper? Thank you in advance for any information. hh blue
