California at it again

I was raised in SoCal, but it amazes me that anybody would want to live there today. Just goes to show you how a gradual change can trick even the smart people. Other than warm weather in the southern part, what does CA have to offer? High taxes, high crime, a state budget that's in the dumps, and more of the same on the horizon. And, I still have relatives down there...I guess I just don't "get it".

What the idiots here don’t understand is that drugs are illegal, too, yet are rampant on the streets.

Ugh, I could go on and on about this subject... suffice it to say my home is protected, and that’s all I wanted.

Ya know, the scary thing about this is you risk going to prison for defending your own place. That attitude alone would be enough to get me to leave the state. I thank God every day, I moved to Idaho many years ago. Although I'd be happy in Wyoming, Utah, Texas, Montana, or any other free state.

I’m headed Oregon way FIRST chance I get. I love my house and the mountains here, but that is IT.

I almost, almost moved there in 2010, but I decided to stay here because of my rather aged father. :(

There isn’t much good about this state anymore, especially for gun fans.

Lived in SF from 99-01 during the tech/Internet boom. Crazy time. Sf and Marin county (esp point Reyes) one of my favorite places in the world. If you like the beach, hiking, etc its fantastic. On the other hand I completely agree that it's expensive as all hell, taxes ridiculous, etc, etc. back then was paying $2g for a one bedroom, no parking on pine street between Taylor and mason. Those were the good ol days!! Best.

a very small portion from one cali bill
" By creating a new crime, this bill would impose a state-mandated
local program."

california legislature—2013–14 regular session
ASSEMBLY BILL No. 174
Introduced by Assembly Member Bonta
January 24, 2013
An act relating to weapons.
legislative counsel’s digest
AB 174, as introduced, Bonta. Weapons: grandfather clauses.
Existing law prohibits the possession of various weapons. Under
existing law, certain of these bans exempted from their scope weapons
that were possessed prior to the ban, if prescribed conditions met, are
authorized.
This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to subsequently
amend this bill to include provisions that would end all of those
exemptions.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
line 1 SECTION 1. Under current law, certain banned weapons are
line 2 permitted under various “grandfathering in” clauses. It is the intent
line 3 of the Legislature to subsequently amend this measure to include
line 4 provisions that would end all of those exemptions.
