Calibrating a Garrett GTAx550

I have a Garrett GTAx550 and need to calibrate it the coin readings are off by one and it won't read nickles has anyone done this without sending it in? it has two adjustment holes on the back of the housing.

This is not an answer to your question,,,,,,but my GTAx 550 jumps all over the place.....I hardly get any soild hits with it.I just listen to the machine and dig everything with the coin sound.

I will try to answer both posts.
1. You can calibrate the numbers, but one number is no big deal. The not reading nickles could be they are disc. out in the menu. This has to be corrected before you mess with the calibration screws.

2. As for numbers jumping all over the place, this can be caused by many things. First the easy part: clean out the coil cover of all dirt. Use fresh batteries installed correctly. If the unit does this everywhere it is picking up EM fields. Turn off you cell phone and see if that helps. Are you near any high power lines, security fences or buried dog fences, cell phone towers?
