Cadet button help needed, pictures added

This may be the wrong place for this post but I need some help with a button. Does anyone have a picture of the back of an 1828 US Military Academy cadet button? The button is 3/4" concave 1-piece with Scovills/Treble Gilt backmark. I think I may have one but there is no "Cadet" on the front. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. The button front is not in the best shape. The backmark is legible and there is fancy scroll work around the shank area. Mine is also missing the shank.
The thing that puzzles me more is the button dates to 1828 according to Alberts book but McGuinn and Bazelons book puts the Scovills/Treble Gilt backmark between 1840-1850. I guess it could have been made in the early 1840s before 2-piece buttons.
It is listed as SU3 in Alberts book.

I contacted the US Military Academy and got a quick reply saying they needed more information so I sent them everything I knew from Alberts and McGuinn & Bazelons books. Hopefully I will hear something back soon.

What makes you think it's a cadet button? I can't make out any detail on the front from the picture. It looks to me like the front is plain. Do you have a picture of an 1828 cadet button? Maybe if you post it that would help with an id.

The front of my button is corroded so the only thing I had to go by was descriptions found in two button reference books. The "CADET" was impressed in the button front. Here are scans from Albert's book. SU 3 is the one I am referring to. The picture is not the best but it is all I have. I found it curious that a plain button would have the amount of scroll work on the back as mine does. That is why I was asking for a picture of the back of a known Cadet button.
But, after looking at the link Bramblefind posted I am pretty sure my button is a civilian one.
I will wait to hear from the Military Academy and report what they tell me when and if.
