Metal Detecting
The other day, I went to an old 1800's farm / homestead that was torn down a few years ago. I've half-hearted hunted it a few times, and have gotten nothing but trash!

On my recent visit, I was detecting the perimiter where the house was. I could see where the concrete front steps were, and thought that was likely a good spot. :sign13:

As I was detecting, I pictured a wooden porch there, with mason jars of coins under it. Well, I got a whole bunch of mixed signals in a one sq. ft. area. I dug in, and pulled out a zinc mason jar lid, and broken glass! Went for more signals! Another jar lid! Is this the one!?! I dug a few more out, and there were scattered signals down deeper! Dug them all up. Decayed scraps from the jar lids.

I found a cache of jar lids! :BangHead:

I will give you the sort version of my best "almost cache".

Found a hidy hole in the floor bricks of an old basement/crawlspace. We unstacked a stack of bricks from behind the stairwell. When we got to the bottom there was 4 very loose bricks in what was otherwise a very tightly laid brick floor. The hole happened to be filled with garter snakes. It was a very exciting find even if there was nothing in it.
