cache, how the heck do you pronounce it?? answer below

I didn't Click the Link.

I usually say CASH (Mountain Speek :D)
or should I say "Montin Speek"

BUT My understanding it is Pronounced "CASH-AAAAAAAAAY"

If I lived in the City I'd say Casheesh ;)

cashette....French
Cash...Hendersonvile,Tn area
Ketch....Ozarks
Catch....Kentucky
Cassius clay ...Indiana
Cay ch ....Bahamas
cajche....New Orleans

:)

" 'kash " I thought "Kash-ay" were those little packets of smelly stuff ladies put in their dainty drawers in their boudoirs.

Or, a Canadian talking about a cache. "You Betcha. I found a cache, ay?"

That is exactly my point. The folks around here pronounce it "CASH-AAAAAY" but according to webster (the link) it is KASH. and drop the AAAAAAY. Although who really cares what you scream when you find one. ;)

Always pronounced it cash (Kash), but then I've driven through Cache Creek, British Columbia many times and its hard not to pick up the pronunciation.

"A s#!t Load of Money" works too ;)

We all know how to pronounce that :D

Years ago one of the magazines had an article
on the proper Pronouncement. This was where I
got my Take.

Intresting side note: (at least to me :P )
Depending on Translator used,

the French say "cachette"
Spanish "reserva" or "escondrijo"
Germans "Cachespeicher" (pronounce That ;D ) or "Pufferspeicher"
Italian for Cache "nascondiglio"
the Dutch "Opslagplaats" or "geheim voorgeheugen"

Around here (Australia) we say (or atleast who I talk to) say Kay-sh (as in 'K'-sh).

That way you can't get confused between finding $10 (cash) and finding $10 million (cache)!

Have fun,
Salvager

According to Alta Vista Babel Fish. "Cache" ('kash) is French for "hide" and "Cachette" ('kash-aye) is French for "hiding place". So, you find a cache in a cachette. Maybe we should call then "Freedom Hides". :D

"Cachet " ('Ka-she) is French for an official seal on a letter or document

You've got it right, KASH!!!!! But I do hear CATCH too! Next Lesson: PLACER or PLASER? ;)

Joe

Its cash to me, rarely hear someone say "cashay" . For the gold term its placer, pronounced PLASSER, like plaster without the "T".
